As you can imagine I’ve seen a few from my fifteen years of styling experience and can confidently report built-in closets are equally favoured as walk-ins, if not more so.

A well-planned closet space streamlines your life by eliminating unnecessary stress and frustration, regardless of the room’s size.

Both built-in and walk-in options can be both effective and look stunning. The key principles here are organisation and functionality. While a spacious walk-in wardrobe may seem like a dream, you can create a beautifully styled space within a built-in wardrobe without needing a large room.

Game Changing Seasonal Rotation

Pro Styling Tips to Organise Your Winter Sweaters & Tops

If you haven’t done so yet, consider adopting a seasonal rotation system for your closet; it will transform how you approach getting dressed.

Here are some styling tips and tricks that I utilise to maintain both my clients’ wardrobes and my own closet in order:

1. Where possible store off-season knitwear, tops and shoes in another part of your closet or draws. Bring winter boots and closed in shoes to the front of your shoe closet. Alternatively you can also pack away in storage containers.

2. Re-arrange your sweaters bringing them to the front so that they are visible and within hands reach.

3. Shelf dividers are a simple but effective way to keep your sweaters neat, visible and ready to enjoy. I personally use tissue paper where needed to keep from toppling over.

4. Storing on a shelf creates neat, separated sections on your shelves, preventing clothes from drifting off into other piles 😂

5. While closed smaller draws can be nice, often out of mind means out of sight! Smaller draws are great for storing underwear and socks or scarves.

6. When spring arrives, swap out your winter clothes for lighter options. This helps keep your wardrobe and/or closet space clutter-free focusing on the current season only.

** Bonus** organise each pile according to your dress code, for example 👉🏼 winter work knitwear, funky dinner date knitwear/tops, heavier weekend sweaters like I’m wearing in this video.
