Spring is that you? I’m just asking for a friend…
If it feels like a minute since we last connected it most certainly has been! I’d like to tell you August came and left as quick as the horrid virus I battled with for 20+ days, but alas the days were long and nights even longer.
As I frantically type this month’s style update, stiffly sitting upright, nursing a fractured back rib 🙁 the by-product of the month-long virus, our July/August European summer break under the Mediterranean sun feels like a fond memory.
And suddenly it was Spring! Better late than never, right?

In this edition I share my Wardrobe 101 Styling Tips specific to Spring. If you’ve been looking for that do-it-yourself wardrobe makeover, you won’t want to skip this one!

Wardrobe 101- How-to Spring Clean Your Wardrobe
How to spring clean your wardrobe and why it can feel so good!
Studies have proven when your home is clean and tidy and your wardrobe decluttered, your daily thoughts become clearer.
Editing your wardrobe space each season can have a transformative impact on your well-being and overall mental health.
Saying goodbye to a wardrobe bursting at the seams, eliminates build-up of anxiety and feelings of “too many clothes yet nothing to wear”.
But to reach that space of feel good within your wardrobe and home space, you have to start with being honest with yourself. What you have and what no longer serves you. In my experience regret is rarely the case when we have successfully edited a client’s wardrobe.
Here are some of the strategies I use with my own wardrobe:
- Start Early
It’s so easy to get carried away with the nicer warmer days, start early to not give yourself any excuse to skip this much needed refresh.
- Empty It All Out
The most basic and fundamental thing that’s often overlooked is cleaning. Get everything out of your wardrobe. If you have a clothes rack, use it. If not, your bed will also do. Create piles for dresses, tops, pants etc. Dust, clean and pack away clothes, shoes and accessories no longer needed.
Add new lavender, cedar sachets or bay leaves. Your wardrobe will smell like a French flower field.
** Hot Wardrobe Stylist Tip – Moths hate the smell of bay leaves.
- Edit, Cull & Keep
* Go through every single piece.
* Is it in good condition?
* Does it fit me?
* Do I love this style?
* Does it need to be altered or dry-cleaned?
Now do the same for your shoes and accessories. Feel good with this process, it means the cost per wear has been great! Refresh summer whites that tend to take on a lovely shade of yellow when not worn. Do the same for all your tee-shirts, tops, and dresses that need a visit to the dry cleaner or need to go.
- The Keepers
Now that you have culled, cleared, sorted all your clothes, there’s love left for the keepers! Lay them out on your bed or coat rack. Mix and match different your tops with pants, skirts, and denim jeans. Take photos of each new outfit you create to make getting dressed easier this season.
- Unify Your Space
Replace nasty dry-cleaning hangers with felt or wooden hangers, depending on your closet space. Wire hangers leave snag marks and often stretch clothes out of shape. They are also displeasing to the eye!
- Sell-Donate-Give Away
Don’t kid yourself, anything you haven’t worn in two seasons is currently taking up space you most likely need in your wardrobe. Pack away gifted memorable items and sell-donate-give-away clothes that no longer serve you.
and just like that… your wardrobe is ready for the season ahead! ♥
