Style Culture October 2026 magazine cover featuring Sydney personal stylist Kerry selecting clothing, with spring wardrobe styling inspiration.

“I Have Nothing to Wear.”

It’s one of the things I hear most from women.

And after working inside more than 2,000 wardrobes, I can tell you that it very rarely means there aren’t enough clothes. Quiet often, it means exactly the opposite.

The wardrobe is full, but somehow getting dressed feels difficult.

This is the part of personal styling I find far more interesting than simply shopping. You see, it’s not about continually finding more things to buy. It’s about understanding your current life, and what deserves a place in your wardrobe in the first place, and what will actually make the wardrobe you own work better.

Spring is often when we feel the urge to start again. The new collections arrive, the weather and after months of winter dressing, it’s very tempting to think a shopping trip will solve everything.

Sometimes a few new pieces are exactly what’s needed.

But after styling more than 2,000 wardrobes, one thing has become very clear to me:

“I have nothing to wear” is very rarely solved by simply having more to wear.

So before you start shopping for Spring, perhaps the best place to start isn’t with the shop’s at all.

Start with the wardrobe.

In this Spring edition, I’m sharing my approach to a spring wardrobe refresh, what to consider before adding anything new, and of course, a little new-season inspiration along the way.

Before You Shop, Look At What You Already Own

Does this wardrobe still represent the woman standing in front of it?

When I stand in a client’s wardrobe I , I’m not simply looking for clothes to get rid of. I’m looking at how everything works together.

What is she actually wearing? What does she love but struggle to style? What’s missing that could make several existing pieces easier to wear?

And perhaps most importantly:

Does this wardrobe still reflect the woman standing in front of it?

Our lives, our work, our bodies change over time. Sometimes our wardrobes simply haven’t caught up.

That’s when adding more clothes rarely solves the problem.

A little Spring Inspiration

I’m certainly not suggesting we shouldn’t enjoy something new…

I love clothes, and there’s always something exciting about seeing a fresh season of print and colour and fashion arrive in the stores.

The difference is choosing something because you can see exactly what it will bring to your wardrobe.

Here are two areas I think are worth a look this spring.

The Spring Dress

Some of the most successful women I have styled have one thing in common “a great dress” in their wardrobe.

It does much of the work for you!

But for me, the best spring dresses aren’t the ones that can only be worn one way or saved for a particular season.

This spring I am looking for dresses with versatility. Something you can wear with a flat or sandal during the day, change the shoe and accessories for dinner, and add a lightweight jacket while Sydney is still deciding whether it’s actually spring.

Before buying one, I want you to think beyond how it looks in the fitting room.

Where will I wear it? What do I already own to wear it with? And will I reach for it again and again?

That’s when a beautiful dress becomes a versatile dress.

A little “save” versus “splurge”. Two spring dresses at different price points, depending on your budget and where you choose to invest.

Lyocell Rich Checked Navy Cowl Neck Midi Dress

The Spring Dress

Spring is when dresses become interesting again. This season I’m drawn to movement and shape. Dresses with a little personality that make you want to put them on.

The Timeless Midi Dress

Timeless sophistication tailored from taffeta. Cinched at the waist, an elegant silhouette, adorned with diamante button details for a touch of opulence.

The Shoe Update

Sometimes you don’t need to change the outfit.

You need to change the shoe.

You’ve all heard me say, the right shoe can completely change the overall look and how current an outfit feels. Your shoes have the ability to change a pair of trousers you’ve owned for years. They can make a dress feel more relaxed, take a skirt away from the office, or give a piece you stopped wearing an entirely different attitude.

So before deciding an outfit isn’t working anymore, try changing the shoe.

It’s a small update that can make a surprisingly big difference.

Aje ivory strappy low heel with statement gold hardware.

The Spring Low Heel Strap

Crafted from leather, touches of gold hardware and thin straps at the front, to create a flattering barely there silhouette and a padded foot bed your feet can enjoy wearing for hours.

Kurt Geiger Mesh ballet flat with crystal embellishment

The Modern Ballet Flat

Great shoes are meant for walking in. The mayfair ballet flat is crafted from perforated houndstooth beige suede leather and antiqued embellishment. A beautiful alternative to the traditional ballet flat.

KK’s Spring Edit

A new season always brings plenty to catch the eye.

This month, a few standout pieces have made it onto my spring radar this month.

Chosen not just because they look good, but because they have the versatility to become pieces you’ll reach for again and again.

F+H Studios silver hammered wrist cuff with sculptural open-ended design, worn on the wrist.

The Sculptural Cuff

More often than not, one piece of jewellery is all an outfit needs. I have long loved hammered jewellery. A contemporary piece, that looks equally good with a crisp white shirt, your favourite LBD or evening outfit.

Zimmermann dark green midi skirt featuring a full, voluminous silhouette, styled with a matching fitted top.

The Statement Skirt

Not just another ordinary cotton A-line skirt. Zimmerman’s poplin midi skirt features generous volume, forming a flattering, feminine silhouette. Keep everything else simple and let the shape do the talking.

The Horse Clementine handbag in olive green pebbled leather with sculptural shape and top handle.

The Architectural Handbag

It’s the shape that caught my eye. Featured in a soft pebbled leather in understated olive green. A refreshing alternative to traditional handbags with enough personality to make even the simplest outfit feel considered.

Carla Zampatti black croc-effect belt featuring a statement silver coin cluster buckle.

The Statement Belt

Bringing a little personality to an otherwise simple look with this black croc-effect leather belt, featuring an antique silver coin buckle. Wear it with tailored trousers, a favourite dress, or to give shape to an oversized shirt.
