Entering February, the month of self “love” ?… I’m confident that January has revealed itself leaving no stone unturned and that much more hopeful February comes with peace, love and serenity!
This month we delve in the latest looks and styles we’re going to appreciate in 2022. As we slowly ease our way out of on-screen socialising and unmasking, I am quietly hopeful luxe sportswear and comfort clothes will continue to dwindle.
The rules for 2022 are… there are no rules! If it feels good then go with it!
It’s time to harness the excitement of life, new horizons allowing that energy to shine through you and your wardrobe.
Our first style update for the year covers industry trends that are fast-emerging and here to stay, both in the world of high-end fashion and everyday clothing. Living Colourfully and The return of Y2K fashion trends – we may or may not like to revisit.
Enjoy our February Style Magazine as much as I have in curating it for you!

Live Colourfully – The Rebirth of Dopamine Dressing
Monochromatic nudes and neutrals have been popularised these past few years and this trend is undeniably due to the cultural influence of the Kardashians. Their signature sexy-casual allure sparked an intersection between lounge-wear and street fashion, characterised by a nude, black and white colour palette.
Like anything in life, fashion is cyclical and when one trend fades away, it allows another to be born or re-emerge. Right now, the nude aesthetic is very much fading, with even Kim K herself steering towards more vibrant colour spectrums as of late. This transition symbolises the rebirth of the dopamine dressing movement, which involves wearing certain clothing to elevate your mood.
Colour, style, and texture can all have psychological associations and are often tied to memories. This year is all about lifted spirits and colour is the choice of dopamine release for 2022. Bright fuchsias, limes, warm oranges and electric blues are under the spotlight, so it’s time to update your wardrobe colour wheel.
Is it 2022 or Y2K?
There’s no denying that the early 2000s were home to some of the most iconic fashion movements.
From internet fashion, through to high-end names, the revival of Y2K is only going to deepen in 2022. In particular, social apps the likes of TikTok have accelerated the revival of baby tees and low rise jeans (you heard right) making a recent comeback due to big-name celebrities like Dua Lipa and Bella Hadid sporting the look about town. TikTok has also amplified the reselling culture among Australian teens and 2000s vintage wear being all the rage.
With halter tops, baguette bags and pleated skirts everywhere, Y2K is back in a big way and it will be interesting to see how brands capitalise on this through their design choices.

Feminine and Feline… the emergence of catsuits
The final and perhaps most surprising trend that has emerged is the catsuit. Having already been on the run-way several times due to Saint Lautrent and Burbery, this clothing item is fast assimilating into the every-day evening wear of celebrities and perhaps ours as well 😉

Fast fashion is Cancelled
With the climate crisis on the rise, sustainability has never been more important. In 2022, more than ever before we aim to buy now and love forever… or at the very least for longer than a couple of wears.
We’ve heard all the news, viewed the documentaries on overproduction and the harm it continues to do for our planet. Not forgetting how certain overproduced fast fashion styles can be just as cheap looking as the materials they’re made from. Transitioning away from this space while investing in quality clothing is paramount ethically and stylistically. And yes I know being mindful with fashion is not always easy, so check out my list of Australian Brands to know and love now.
